The Israeli Air Force has killed another senior Hezbollah commander in an attack in the Lebanese capital Beirut – this time the head of the Islamic militia’s headquarters, Suhail Hussein Husseini.

Husseini was killed in a targeted attack on Monday, the Israeli army (IDF) announced on Tuesday morning. He was also a member of Hezbollah’s Jiha Council, the Iranian-backed Shiite extremist organization’s highest military body, the IDF said.

“Husseini played a crucial role in the arms transfers between Iran and Hezbollah,” the IDF said in a statement. He was also responsible for the distribution of advanced weapons to units of the Shia group and “for the budgeting and logistical management of Hezbollah’s most sensitive projects.” These include war planning and special operations against Israel from Lebanon and Syria.
