Radisson Hotel Group aims to double its existing presence in South Africa to 25 hotels by 2030.

This expansion plan and recent updates are in line with the company’s commitment to the growth of the hospitality sector in South Africa.

Daniel Trappler, senior director of development for Radisson Hotel Group Sub-Saharan Africa, said: “We are prioritizing, through management or franchise models, conversions for faster market entry and exploring strategic partnerships with existing management companies to expand our footprint, which could facilitate the introduction brings the Radisson Individuals brand to South Africa, an ideal first step for individual hotels with strong service scores who may consider moving to one of our other successful core brands at a later stage.

“We are also looking to expand our upper luxury portfolio and enter the lifestyle luxury market in Cape Town with our Radisson Collection and art’otel brands, leveraging the city’s strong tourism performance and our successful existing portfolio.”

The existing properties in the country that have undergone improvements include the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel, Sandton Johannesburg, Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Cape Town and Park Inn Foreshore.

The Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel is undergoing a facelift and has already completed 60% of its room renovations, with improved amenities.

The first phase of this two-phase renovation has been completed.

Plans for the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Cape Town’s renewal, have been announced with the first phase expected to be completed in September 2024.

The renovation will include updates to the public atrium and bedrooms, starting next month.

A team of local and international designers have been tasked with selecting the design elements, artwork, fabrics and raw materials for this project.

In April, the group announced the rebranding from Park Inn Cape Town Foreshore to Radisson Hotel Cape Town Foreshore.

The hotel’s 120 rooms have been revitalized after an eight-month renovation.

The hotel now features South Africa’s first Filini restaurant and Harald’s Rooftop Bar and Terrace with a plunge pool.

In February, Radisson ventured into the African safari hospitality space with the opening of Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit.

Radisson Hotel Group has more than 1,350 hotels operating and under development in more than 95 countries.
