PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Various aspects of Hispanic culture were celebrated Wednesday night at Manual High School with a special event.
The event took place in the high school auditorium and featured fashion, dance, music and other aspects of Hispanic culture.
Several other countries were also discussed, including Honduras, Venezuela and El Salvador.

Cesar Vargas visited Manual and volunteered for the event, reflecting on how Peoria’s Hispanic population has grown since he was in high school.
“The community has grown so much. We celebrate not only Mexican culture, but Honduran, Salvadoran, Dominican and Puerto Rican culture at the school. As a former student of this school, we didn’t see that before,” he said.
He also thanked teacher Kristen Bailey for coordinating the event, which involved many students.
This was part of Manual’s Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week, which ends Friday.
