The Israeli military said in a message on X on Saturday that they were continuing their operations in several parts of the Gaza Strip.
At least 87 people have died in the past two days, according to health authorities in Gaza.
According to the Israeli army, several armed Hamas members who attacked soldiers were killed in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza city.
During the operation, which has been underway since late June, soldiers also discovered tunnels and longer-range missiles, which the military said indicated the enemy was “trying to re-establish a base in the area.”
The Israeli army has previously attempted to drive the Palestinian Islamist Hamas out of the neighborhood.
The Israeli military also reported that fighting continued in Rafah, in the southernmost part of the Strip, and that “several terrorist cells that posed a threat” had been eliminated there.
In an area designated as a “humanitarian zone” in the central Gaza town of Deir al-Balah, the Israeli military said it had struck a Hamas rocket launcher hidden there.
Rockets are repeatedly fired at Israel from the coastal area. A rocket aimed at an Israeli town near the Gaza Strip recently fell in an open area, according to recent Israeli media reports.
During the October 7 attack on southern Israel, terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostages in the Gaza Strip. Israel believes there are still around 120 hostages, but many of them are probably dead.
The unprecedented massacre marked the beginning of the war in Gaza, with Israeli leaders saying they still want to eradicate Hamas.
According to the Hamas-controlled health authority, some 38,098 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza so far. This figure includes both fighters and civilians. Another 87,705 were wounded.
