The 2024 Ferrari Cavalcade, which kicked off in Venice, Italy on July 1, has already seen several accidents, including a notable accident involving a LaFerrariThis prestigious event, known for showcasing Ferraris the best, but it soon turned into a series of unfortunate incidents.
One of the first reported accidents was a black 296 GTB which caught fire near Venice. Emergency workers managed to extinguish the flames before the car was completely destroyed, as captured in videos circulating on social media.
In addition, a 296 GTB and an SF90 were involved in a motorway crash as competitors headed north. Few details are known, but it is believed that wet and slippery road conditions contributed to these incidents.
The LaFerrari, one of the most exclusive models in the rally, was also the victim of an accident. Images on social media show significant damage to the car. Reports indicate that it was hit from behind, resulting in significant damage to the rear bumper, tail light cluster and exhaust pipes. The front bumper and splitter were also damaged, suggesting that the LaFerrari may have rolled into another vehicle after the initial impact.
To repair a LaFerrari is notoriously expensive. The rear bumper alone costs around $63,000, the taillight around $1,000 and the front bumper almost $42,000. These figures underscore the high cost of maintaining such elite supercars.
The Ferrari Cavalcade, usually a celebration of Ferrari’s engineering prowess and a scenic tour for enthusiasts, has had a challenging start this year, with the accidents serving as a reminder of the inherent risks of high-performance driving, even under controlled rally conditions.
