Three weeks later Vinicius Junior Spain must continue to make progress in tackling racism, the Anti-Violence Commission, which handles cases of discrimination in sport, has recommended an unprecedented fine for abuse on social media.

Classified as ‘very serious’ by the commission, a series of racist insults from an individual have been handed over to the prosecutor as evidence. According to RelevanceThe Anti-Violence Commission has recommended that they be fined €60,000 and banned from sporting events for two years.

This follows on from last season, when the first prison sentence was handed down to three Valencia fans who assaulted Vinicius at the Mestalla in May 2023. It remains to be seen whether the prosecutor will follow through with that sentence, but the sentences tend towards a much harsher approach to racism.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti told the press On Monday he stated that the insults directed at Vinicius, racist or not, were unacceptable, while his teammate Dani Carvajal also showed understanding for his struggle and said his reactions to the crowd were normal.
