A Lincolnshire charity wants to send five defibrillators to Ukraine to help save lives.

The equipment, which was donated by South Kesteven District Council (SKDC), is old and needs to be replaced.

Generate, a Stamford-based humanitarian aid project, is appealing for more devices and donations to be sent to Ukraine.

SKDC Councillor Richard Cleaver said: “The donated defibrillators are fully operational and ready for rescue.”

Generate was founded to raise money and donate hardware to help victims of the conflict.

They are contacting organizations that have additional tools and equipment in the hopes that they can be donated.

Previous contributions include power banks and portable camping stoves for preparing emergency food.

The group said it will accept fully serviceable and safe equipment, as well as items with minor mechanical defects.

The charity also raised around £1,500 through donations.

Bernard Wood from the charity Generate said: “The winter will be very tough for many people in Ukraine, so it is an ideal time to take them along with other donations this autumn.”

SKDC Councillor Richard Cleaver added: “The donated defibrillators are fully operational and ready for use in an emergency. Although the advice in this country is to replace them when they reach a certain age, we didn’t want to throw them away.”

He also said that this option makes the defibrillators very useful.

SKDC has 20 defibrillators for public use throughout the district, in sheltered accommodations, arts centers, offices and parks.
