LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) — The Lebanon VA Medical Center welcomed a special guest — a longtime friend to many veterans, in his own right.
A UH-1 Huey helicopter arrived at the hospital. This is perhaps the most famous aircraft used in the Vietnam War.

It has been restored and is now used to honor veterans and educate the public about the role the memorial played in Vietnam.
“And if you were in Vietnam, you probably flew at least one sortie, even if you were a cook or a mail carrier,” said Martin Kleiner, a retired colonel and member of the Liberty War Birds. “This was your lifeline. It got you into battle. It refueled you while you were in the air, and it got you out when it was time to get out.”
“If you were injured, you would go to the hospital with this,” Kleiner said.
The Huey was restored by the non-profit Liberty War Birds, based at Lancaster Airport.
