Senevirathne, who regularly uploads AI-generated content and describes himself as a digital creator, confirmed to AFP that he created the image using AI technology.

Another reverse image search on Google led to the second photo uploaded by Tatarat Trainarong (Count) in a Thai Facebook group dedicated to AI content on March 23, 2024 (archived link).

“CCTV News has brought you some strange footage caught on camera – from a dog losing its patience because a monk was late feeding it to an unexplained mystery,” the caption in Thai read.

The author of the message, Tatarat Trainarong, confirmed to AFP on September 23, 2024 that he was using the generative AI program Dall-E 3 to create the images that will be published in the post.

Signs of manipulation

Additionally, visual cues in the images indicate that the images were created using AI.

In the first photo, the jeep’s windshield and license plate are blurry and the watermark “Yala National Park” in the lower right corner is misspelled.

In the second photo, the vehicle’s light source was not aligned with the headlights and the elephant did not appear to be sitting in a natural balancing position on the tree.

In addition, there was a watermark with the name of the creator at the bottom right of the photo, Tatarat Trainarong.
