The Hamas-run health authority in Gaza on Monday published a list of the names of nearly 35,000 Palestinians killed since Israel began its military operation in the area last October.

A total of 34,344 victims are named in the 649-page list. The list counts the victims who died up to the end of August and makes no distinction between fighters and civilians.

The first 14 pages of the document concern 710 victims under the age of one.

A total of 11,355 children and adolescents under the age of 18 have been registered, while the oldest registered victims are two men aged 100 and 101.

The war in Gaza was sparked by the unprecedented October 7 attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and other extremists.

About 1,200 people were killed in Israel and 250 hostages were taken to Gaza.

Israel’s military response has drawn huge international criticism due to the high number of civilian casualties and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

According to the latest count by Gaza health authorities, more than 41,200 Palestinians have died in the conflict.

Israel claimed last month that it had killed more than 17,000 terrorists in the coastal strip. The figures cannot be independently verified.
