Sept. 4 (UPI) — A student from India has broken a Guinness World Record by converting a refillable ballpoint pen into the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner.
Tapala Nadamuni, 23, spent about $238 transforming his pen into a vacuum cleaner measuring only 0.25 inches on the shortest axis of its body.
He said his small vacuum cleaner creates suction through a small rotating fan powered by a four-volt vibration motor, which sucks up dust particles that can then be thrown away.
Nadamuni previously held the same record in 2020, when he built a 1.74 cm (69 in) vacuum cleaner, but this record was later broken by a smaller device that was only 1.88 cm (0.7 in) taller than his latest creation.
“All the students at our university were amazed by this little vacuum cleaner and my teachers said it was the most beautiful creation they had ever seen,” Nadamuni told Guinness World Records.
