Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday unveiled a newly developed weapon for the country’s armed forces, announcing that the Palyanyitsya drone missile will be included in Ukraine’s missile program.
“This drone missile is much faster than our long-range drones and more powerful,” he said.
Zelensky could not and would not disclose further details, citing security reasons.
Palyanyitsya refers to the traditional white bread of Ukraine.
Ukraine has started producing several types of drones in recent months. They are relatively cheap weapons that can be produced in large quantities.
The Ukrainian armed forces mainly use long-range drones for targets on Russian territory, as their Western partners have not yet given Kiev permission to use heavy weapons such as rockets or cruise missiles for such attacks.
