Yemen’s Houthi militia has announced it will respond “effectively” to an Israeli attack on the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, which the Iran-linked group said targeted civilian facilities.

The militia’s self-proclaimed Supreme Political Council condemned the “horrific Israeli aggression” and said it would not deter the Houthis from their pro-Palestinian stance, the militia-controlled SABA news agency reported.

The council said the Israeli strikes targeted oil storage facilities and the electricity substation in the Houthi-controlled city, killing and wounding several people.

TV al-Masirah, the Houthi channel, broadcast footage that reportedly showed people being injured in the attack.

“What we emphasize is that this horrific aggression will only make the Yemeni people and their brave forces more determined,” Mohammed Abdel-Salam, spokesman for the militia, said in a post on the social media platform X.
