PHILADELPHIAFrom sports to Philadelphia slang, a Philadelphia nonprofit is teaching a group of West African children everything they need to know about the City of Brotherly Love.

Known for its rich history, Philadelphia has been a tourist attraction for years. This past week, a Philadelphia nonprofit took on the role of guide for a group of children from West Africa, showing them everything the City of Brotherly Love has to offer.

FOX 29’s Greg Payne saw the excitement among the boys from Ivory Coast in West Africa, who took their first steps on American soil in the Philadelphia area.

“Before I came here, I did my own research. I tried to find something on the internet about Philadelphia and I saw some interesting things, but I didn’t really know that there were really good things here,” said Awlue Christ, Ivory Coast.

From strolling along the shore in Ocean City to attending a Philadelphia Union game to shopping in the Fashion District and taking the subway, the group got the full Philly experience.

“Everything is different, the man, the food, the house, the people, the girls, everything,” said Christ.

They couldn’t get enough of the food as they loved the burgers and of course the Philly cheesesteaks.

The possibility was made possible by the KB Foundation.

FOX 29 has previously covered the Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization over the past two years.

The KB Foundation has been sending youth from the inner city of brotherly love to West Africa for some time now, but for the first time it is the Ivory Coast that will take on Philly.

The group of children also turned out to be among the best footballers in Ivory Coast.

“They’re both starting to see that the world around them is much bigger, that there are other people everywhere. They’re starting to connect the dots in terms of how important it is to not be isolated in your own space, that it’s a big world and that we expose them to that,” said Justin Fishman, KB Foundation.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the next team they will be exposed to as they head to training camp on Monday.
