Volunteers still needed for Beast on the Bay ahead of the race

Builders put the finishing touches on obstacles for the annual Beast on the Bay challenge.

More than 1,000 competitors from 23 states and Canada will gather Saturday morning to compete in a 10-mile race.

The event is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year, benefiting the institute’s services for children and adults with disabilities.

Organizers said they are still looking for volunteers and there is still time to sign up.

“Specific parking volunteers and obstacle guards located on Presque Isle Beach can register online at BarberBeast.Org or you can come by the registration tent tomorrow. There is also a volunteer registration tent where you can sign up for one of those spots,” said Lauren Harrington, marketing specialist for the Barber National Institute.
