Russia has again carried out drone strikes on targets across Ukraine overnight, using some 70 unmanned aerial vehicles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram on Saturday.

He said that the Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kherson, Kharkov and Donetsk regions, as well as the Greater Kiev region, were the targets of the attacks, most of which were repelled.

The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 72 of 76 Russian drones overnight, but gave no details on possible damage or casualties.

Significant damage was reported mainly in the Odessa region on the Black Sea.

In a suburb of the regional capital, several buildings, including a residential building, were damaged by drone debris, military governor Oleh Kiper wrote on Telegram.

In Izmail district, a hub for grain transport, storage buildings were hit.

According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a municipal company in Kiev was hit by falling debris, but no fire broke out.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a large-scale Russian invasion for more than two and a half years and is heavily dependent on military aid from Western partners.

The government in Kiev has repeatedly called on Western allies to increase support and send more air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from the ongoing Russian bombardment.
