The video showed one rocket with a British flag and one with a French brand. An alternative name for the rocket was used, namely SCALP, which is common in France.
Ukrainian outlet Defense Express reported that it was the very first video to feature Storm Shadows in live combat.
It said footage showed missiles fired from an Su-24, one of the fighter jets Ukraine uses to transport missiles.
Business Insider was unable to immediately verify these claims, but footage of such actions is very rare.
A 2015 video from the missile’s maker, MBDA, shows Storm Shadows in action, but does not specify whether the footage shows test scenarios or real warfare.
The Ukrainian military called it the first official footage of a live launch of the rocket.
Storm Shadows are cruise missiles jointly developed by the United Kingdom and France.
Both countries have given Ukraine the missiles and the United Kingdom was the first country to supply Ukraine with cruise missiles when Kiev got its first Storm Shadows in May 2023.
Ukraine has used them in far-reaching attacks, including one in which those missiles apparently was used to hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimeathe Ukrainian peninsula that was annexed by Russia in 2014.
The footage in the Ukrainian Air Force video appears to show this attack.
