Thousands of demonstrators responded to a call from the ‘Never Again War’ initiative to march through central Berlin on German Unity Day.

They held up banners calling for diplomacy instead of war and a halt to arms supplies to Ukraine. Many demonstrators waved flags with the dove of peace. They converged on the Victory Column in the center of Berlin from three directions.

No significant incidents were reported by the city’s police force, which deployed around 1,000 officers to monitor the protest. Police estimated the number of protesters at around 10,000, while organizers said there were 30,000.

Demonstrators on one of the routes expressed solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip, holding up signs calling for an “end to occupation terror” and “NATO promotes war and genocide – solidarity with Donbas and Gaza.”
