The Israeli army designated several areas in northern Israel as military exclusion zones on Monday evening, as fears of a war between Israel and Lebanon grow.
These areas are not allowed to be entered, a military spokesman for the Israeli forces’ Northern Command said, referring to areas near Metula, Misgav Am and Kfar Giladi, close to the Lebanese border.
Earlier, an army spokesman referred to exercises as part of the troops’ increased combat readiness.
That came as Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the next phase of the fight against Hezbollah would begin soon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet also met on Monday, amid growing fears that Israel is planning an incursion into Lebanon in the coming hours.
Israel last week launched a large-scale air campaign on targets across Lebanon, aiming to push back Hezbollah to allow the return of tens of thousands of residents evacuated from northern Israel.
