According to Reuters, inside sources have revealed that Tesla plans to produce a six-seater variant of its Model Y in China starting in late 2025.
The news agency quoted two people with direct knowledge of the matter.
One of the anonymous sources said the automaker has reportedly asked suppliers to prepare for a “double-digit increase” in Model Y production at its Shanghai plant.
Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the news agency.
The move to create a six-seater variant underscores pressure from domestic rivals such as Nio, which recently launched a new version. his Onvo L60that is aimed at families.
