A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after falling from a height of 12 metres an amusement park ride according to reports on Thursday in Canada.

CP24 reported that the teen fell from the Swing of the Century attraction, which The wonderland of Canada calls it “an attraction that is ideal for the whole family.”

According to police, the incident took place around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday.

“We responded to a report of an injury at the park yesterday at 2:42 p.m. There was nothing criminal about this incident and we stayed to assist emergency responders. A 17-year-old girl was transported to a trauma center,” York Regional Police said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Park medical personnel and EMS responded and the guest was taken to hospital. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” a spokesperson for Canada’s Wonderland told CTV News Toronto in an email.

The Swing of the Century attraction was one of the original 26 rides at Canada’s Wonderland when the park opened in 1981.

“The safety of our guests and employees is our top priority,” the park spokesperson said.

According to Canada’s Wonderland’s website, the “Swing of the Century” was one of the original 26 attractions located at the park when it opened on May 23, 1981.

The rider safety information on the website describes the ride as “a family-friendly swing ride featuring free-hanging seats suspended from an elevated, rotating, tilted tower. Riders spin in a circular motion as the tower begins to rise.”
