SolarBank has submitted $1.5 million in grant applications for three electric vehicle (EV) fast charger projects in Ontario, Canada. The projects are owned by AI Renewable 2023 in partnership with a First Nation. These pilot projects represent AI Renewable’s first investments in electric vehicle charging. The applications were submitted as part of Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. SolarBank’s role will be the turnkey developer, asset manager and operations and maintenance provider. The total cost of the projects is estimated at $2.3 million, and the company expects to receive maximum grant funding, subject to approval by Natural Resources Canada. The results of the application are expected in January 2025, while the development of the projects is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026. Two of the projects also have grant applications pending with the Ontario government’s EV ChargeON program and expect to receive results prior to release. end of the current calendar year.
