PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) — When you walk in Los Andesyou are immediately transported to South America.

That unique atmosphere has always been the place in which owner Cesin Curi has thrived.

“It’s definitely a destination where people have learned to see our culture, taste our culture and hear our culture,” Curi said.

Named after a mountain range that runs through South America, Los Andes was founded nearly twenty years ago by three brothers, including Curi, who emigrated with their parents from Cochobamba, Bolivia, in search of the American dream.

“I’m very grateful to them for showing us that work ethic,” he said of his parents. “You come and you do it, and then you don’t lower your head until it’s done. That’s what the American dream is about: working as hard as you can and believing in what you can achieve.”

Curi said Los Andes serves not only Bolivian and Peruvian cuisine, but also Argentinian and other South American dishes.

Los Andes’ menu offers a blend of Latin American flavors designed to please every palate. Even though Providence is miles away from South America, Curi has made it his mission to bring those cultures and traditions to the Ocean State.

“It’s heartwarming because of the support we’re getting from our community,” Curi said. “Every culture makes this place unique. It is the diversity of our customer base.”
