BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will come to Colombia on Thursday at the invitation of Vice President Francia Márquez, where they will participate in several events, including a forum against cyberbullying, the Colombian vice president’s office said on Wednesday.
The couple, who are in the South American country for the first time, will take part in various events in the capital Bogota on Thursday and Friday, before travelling to Cartagena and Cali, in the Caribbean and Colombia’s Pacific, where they are expected to be over the weekend.
The events surrounding the couple’s visit begin on Thursday with a press conference by Márquez, Colombia’s first black vice presidentin which she is expected to provide more details about the purpose of Harry and Meghan’s visit. The statement did not make clear whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would make any comments.
Harry and Meghan will also visit a school in Bogotá, where they will “engage directly with students exploring the digital landscape and its effects on society,” the statement said.
They will also attend a forum on promoting safe digital environments, organized by the Colombian vice presidency in partnership with Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
“The forum will address the urgent need for responsible technology practices, particularly in the Global South, where the negative impacts of technology are felt disproportionately,” the statement said.
Details of the agenda for Saturday and Sunday will be announced later, the vice president’s office said. ___
