Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has offered help to rebuild buildings in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv that were destroyed overnight by a massive Russian airstrike.

“Lviv needs help! The target of the Russian attack was the city center. Many old buildings were damaged,” Tusk posted on X.

The city has taken in many displaced Ukrainians.

Lviv is only 70 kilometres from the Polish border and was once part of Poland. It changed hands twice during World War II.
