“We have taken the necessary steps to approach China in various ways and express our complaints and dissatisfaction,” Manila Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo told reporters on Monday.

The country is also concerned that China is “escalating tensions over what was essentially just an innocent movement by a Philippine vessel,” Manalo said.

Asked whether legal action was being considered, the foreign minister said the government was “currently considering possible approaches to this matter.”
