Former fashion mogul Peter Nygard has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually abusing four women in Toronto, Canada, between the late 1980s and 2005.
The 83-year-old was convicted by a jury in November last year after denying the charges.
Prosecutors were seeking a 15-year prison sentence for Nygard, saying he showed a “pattern of behavior” when he attacked the women.
His defense team argued for a sentence of less than two years, with the judge taking into account his advanced age, declining health and time already spent behind bars.
The conviction does not mean the end of Nygard’s legal proceedings.
He is accused of separate sexual abuse and sex trafficking in Montreal and Winnipeg, as well as in the US.
He denies any wrongdoing and the other charges have not yet been brought to court.
