Rangers interim chairman John Gilligan says recruiting a new general manager is his “top priority”.
The Ibrox club have been without a general manager since James Bisgrove left for the Middle East in the spring.
Gilligan – who is temporarily in charge after John Bennett resigned for health reasons – expects movement in the next “few months”.
“I will stay as long as it takes,” he said. “The top priority is to get a CEO.
“We are working on that now. I can stay indefinitely, I expect a few months and there will also be a chairman.”
When asked what he would look for in a potential employee, Gilligan said: “Recruitment in any sector is a hot topic. The person has to be versatile and good at everything.
“He must have an assertive character and we expect much more from the CEO through the chairman.
“And also that the CEO has a lot of power in everyday life and that the chairman has something to back that up.”
Gilligan also rejected the prospect of an extraordinary general meeting, as proposed by major shareholder Dave King, who wants to return to his previous role as chairman.
“Again, it’s a bit unrealistic because extraordinary general meetings are invariably called by people who want to change something,” Gilligan said.
“But the current board does not want to change. Why should we then declare an EGM?”
