TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – We are tracking showers coming out of the Gulf of Mexico this morning. Rain chances increase to 40% in the afternoon as the storms move southeast. Showers will taper off quickly around sunset.

Drier air arrives Friday and into the weekend. We only have a 20% chance of a quick afternoon shower each day. It will still be quite warm with highs in the low 90s and a light breeze from the northeast.

Next week will start off dry, but the chance of rain will probably increase towards the end of the week. It will all be determined by a tropical wave that will develop in the Caribbean early next week.

Obviously, since the system has not yet formed, there are many uncertainties about the ultimate path and intensity of the system. Most models agree that the system will move northward into the Gulf of Mexico next week, but there will be many shifts in the forecast as the system organizes. Stay tuned.
