WIMEREUX, France (AP) — Just a day after 12 migrants died In a failed attempt to cross the Channel, another boat carrying dozens of people attempted another crossing from northern France on Wednesday. It appears the boat is heading for Britain.

Associated Press journalists on a beach in Wimereux, on the northern French coast and close to the site of Tuesday’s deadly sinking, broadcast live footage of an inflatable boat full of people, apparently migrants, at sea.

The boat is so full that several people on board, sitting next to each other on the inflatable tires, have their legs over the edge.

Many are wearing orange life jackets. A small gray patrol boat flying a French flag approached the inflatable boat at one point, and a crew member on board then threw more orange life jackets — about half a dozen — to people on board the ship, who caught them.

Another, larger patrol vessel follows the inflatable craft from a greater distance.
