France captain Kylian Mbappé has been criticised by French politician Marine Le Pen over his recent election comments.
Mbappe and other French internationals have spoken out about the possibility of political change in France ahead of Sunday’s crucial elections.
In preparation for a key vote, Mbappé has reiterated his call to French voters to prevent “extremes” from coming to power before the second round of the election.
Mbappe called the first round results disastrous and called on young people to react and ensure Le Pen does not gain a position of power in Paris.
France will face Portugal in the semi-finals of Euro 2024. The final fixture will be played on July 14. This could clash with the mood if France passes La Roja and reaches the deciding match.
Despite all the praise for Mbappé’s stance on the issue, Le Pen has criticised Mbappé, saying his stance does not realistically reflect French society.
