Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday led to the deaths of dozens of Palestinians, according to Palestinian reports.
At least 13 Palestinians were killed and 26 others wounded when tents were hit in the town of Khan Younis in the southern coastal region, medical sources in Gaza said.
An airstrike on a school run by the United Nations relief agency (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip killed about 15 people and injured about 40 others.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported in a message on Telegram that terrorists were operating from the school there.
“Prior to the attack, numerous measures were taken to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of aerial surveillance, accurate munitions and additional intelligence,” the report said.
The Israeli military also commented on the attack on Khan Younis, saying it targeted “a company commander of the Islamic Jihad naval unit.”
“We are investigating reports that several civilians were injured as a result of the attack,” the IDF said. “The details are being investigated.”
