The Lufthansa Group is extending flight cancellations to the Middle East by one week.
All flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman and Erbil will be suspended until August 21, the airline announced in Frankfurt on Monday.
The group’s companies will also not use the airspace over Iraq and Iran. The previous flight suspension was in effect until Tuesday.
The suspension comes in response to ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, which have raised fears of a war in the region that extends far beyond the Gaza Strip.
Lufthansa is offering free cancellations to passengers with tickets up to and including August 31. The flight suspension applies to all airlines in the group, including Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, and to both cargo and passenger aircraft.
