Lufthansa on Monday extended the flight ban to Israel and Iran until October 14 due to the tense security situation in the region.

The German airline announced that flights to Tel Aviv and Tehran would be canceled during this period and that the planes would bypass Israeli and Iranian airspace.

Lufthansa flights to Beirut remain suspended as planned until October 26.

The company said it would closely monitor the situation and assess it further in the coming days.

Passengers affected by the flight ban can rebook their ticket free of charge to a later travel date or receive a full refund of the ticket price.

Lufthansa had already announced that it would suspend flights to and from Israel and Tehran following the recent spate of pager and walkie-talkie explosions in Lebanon.

In addition to the main airline, Lufthansa, the Lufthansa Group consists of Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.
