Lithuania plans to provide Ukraine with another military package as Kiev seeks to repel a Russian invasion, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said on Saturday.
Šimonytė made the announcement in Kiev during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Andrzej Duda, UNIAN news agency reported.
“Lithuania’s position is well known and clear: Ukraine must win, Russia must lose,” she said.
In the autumn, Kiev is expected to receive around 5,000 drones from Lithuania. For this, in addition to ammunition and weapons, air defense systems, missiles and equipment to counter drones should be delivered by early September.
In addition, Šimonytė said Lithuania is providing €35 million ($39 million) to buy radar equipment and mine detection equipment. The value of the new military package was not disclosed.
Lithuania is one of Ukraine’s most dedicated supporters. In May alone, Lithuania provided military aid worth around €640 million.
