Kenya’s politically embattled president has announced a new “broad-based government” after weeks of deadly anti-government protests sparked by an unpopular tax bill.
However, six of the eleven ministers are president Willem Ruto The proposals he made in his speech on Friday came from the cabinet he dismissed last week.
When he dismissed that cabinet, Ruto said the move was taken after “reflection and listening to Kenyans”.
On Friday, he said the “crisis” Kenya found itself in was less than the “opportunity” the country had.
