Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has said Israel expects support from the United Kingdom and France in the event of a possible attack by Iran.
“I have made it clear to the foreign ministers of France and Britain: if Iran attacks, Israel expects the international coalition led by the US, Britain and France to join Israel, not only in defense, but also in striking key targets in Iran,” Katz said Friday during a meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his French counterpart Stéphane Séjourné in Jerusalem, according to a statement from the Israeli Defense Ministry sent via WhatsApp.
In a statement on X, Katz said he had made clear to his French and British colleagues “that the right way to deter Iran and prevent war is to announce that if Iran attacks, they will not only support Israel in defense, but also in attacking targets in Iran.”
“Iran is the leader of the axis of evil, and the free world must stop this now before it is too late,” Katz said.
“Israel is interested in a deal to secure the release of the abductees at home and will do everything to promote such a deal,” he added. “Hamas can harden its positions and wait for the Iranian attack on Israel as an alternative to negotiations.”
