Two members of Hamas’ military wing have killed an Israeli hostage, a spokesman for the militant Islamist organization said Monday.

Two other hostages were wounded, said Abu Obaida, a member of the al-Qassam Brigades. The actions were “in response to Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” he said.

The Israeli military said it could neither confirm nor refute the information and that Obaida’s statement was being investigated.

Dozens of people remain in detention by the group since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel last October, killing more than 1,200 people.
