Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the attacks in Lebanon would continue despite international efforts to broker a ceasefire.
“I have approved the following series of surgeries,” Gallant posted on X.
“We continue to eliminate Hezbollah terrorists, dismantle offensive infrastructure, and destroy rockets and missiles. The missions ahead of us are clear, and we are determined to ensure the safe return of Israel’s northern communities to their homes.”
Gallant met senior military officials on Thursday to discuss Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, including near the capital Beirut.
Earlier, a number of countries, including the US, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, had jointly called for a 21-day ceasefire.
The pause is intended to create space for a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon and the nearly year-long war in Gaza.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office rejected the plan, saying no ceasefire was imminent.
