The Israeli military has called on residents of several neighborhoods in the central Gaza Strip to flee in preparation for a new military operation, an Israeli military spokesman said in a message to X on Saturday.
The residents are to be relocated to an area designated by Israel as a humanitarian zone, the spokesman said in an Arabic-language message.
Palestinian sources report that several people have been killed in Israeli attacks in the center of the Gaza Strip.
The army said those affected by the recent call to flee are residents of the Al-Maghasi refugee district. It said the reason for the new operation was “continued Hamas rocket fire” from the area.
The army is said to be planning to attack the terrorist organization there. He said the army was also distributing leaflets to residents. The army operated in Al-Maghasi earlier this year.
The Israeli army has already called on residents of several areas in the northeast of the Gaza Strip to flee, with residents and displaced people being directed to “known shelters” in the center of Gaza City.
Among those affected are residents of the town of Beit Hanun. The army said the call was due to the presence of Hamas, which it says is firing rockets into Israel from the area.
Many people have been displaced several times during the war.
