IHG Hotels & Resorts has passed the milestone of 200 opened hotels in the Northern European market.
This expansion includes the introduction of several IHG brands in Germany, Hungary, Poland and Sweden.
Later this year, Germany will welcome luxury boutique hotels Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and midscale conversion brand Garner.
The Candlewood Suites extended-stay brand will debut early next year, while the first hotels under the Kimpton and Vignette Collection brands have already opened in Hungary.
Additionally, the partnership between IHG’s Holiday Inn brand and NOVUM Hospitality’s niu brand has resulted in more than 30 new openings.
In Germany, the new Holiday Inn Express Munich Airport-Erding is scheduled to open in late 2024, next to Kimpton Frankfurt Main. It will be the first Kimpton hotel in the country and is located in the FOUR development.
The Holiday Inn brand – the new – continues to expand with two more signed properties, joining the 52 properties already signed.
In April 2024, a total of 56 Garner hotels were signed as part of a long-term agreement with NOVUM Hospitality, with the first hotels expected to open later this year.
Additionally, 11 Candlewood Suites properties were signed in April 2024, with openings planned by the end of this year.
Poland is set to get its fourth Holiday Inn Express hotel in the country: Holiday Inn Express Lublin. The hotel will open as a converted independent hotel in partnership with Polski Holding Hotelowy.
The voco hotels brand makes its Polish debut with voco Katowice, a 167-room hotel expected to open in 2025.
Krakow will welcome the Hotel Indigo Krakow – Wawel Castle in 2025, signed with Howell Estates, marking the second Hotel Indigo in the city.
In Hungary, Kimpton BEM Budapest opened in July 2024, while Verno House Budapest, part of the Vignette Collection, opened last month.
In Sweden, the opening of voco Stockholm – Kista in early September 2024 marks IHG’s re-entry into the market.
In addition, the recently opened Holiday Inn Express Brussels – Airport, developed in collaboration with Borealis Hotel Group, has 208 rooms.
IHG’s Northern European market, which spans 13 countries, currently has 197 open hotels and 169 properties under development.
