IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its Spanish portfolio with the signing of four hotels from different brands, including Vignette Collection and Hotel Indigo.
The move will expand IHG’s presence in Spain to almost 13,000 open and signed rooms. The new contracts include Vignette Collection Mallorca – Finca Banyols, Vignette Collection Jerez, Hotel Indigo Gandia – Beach and Holiday Inn Express San Sebastian – Errenteria.
The Vignette Collection Mallorca – Finca Banyols, owned by Prevario Banyols and managed by Hotel Collection International, will be the first Vignette Collection in Spain. Scheduled to open in the first half of 2025, the 45-room property will offer guests a unique stay surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
Vignette Collection Jerez will be the second Vignette Collection property in Spain. Signed with Senator Hotels & Resorts, it is located in Jerez city centre and promises a luxury experience steeped in the region’s rich history, cuisine and culture. It is scheduled to open in the second half of 2025.
Hotel Indigo Gandia – Beach, also in partnership with Senator Hotels & Resorts, will have 40 rooms overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The beachfront property in the coastal city of Gandia is expected to open in mid-2025 and will feature a beach club, swimming pool, bar and restaurant that embraces local flavors.
The Holiday Inn Express San Sebastian – Errenteria, an 82-room hotel managed by Hotel Collection International, is expected to open in mid-2026. Located near San Sebastian and offering easy access to the airport and the French border, the hotel will strengthen the Holiday Inn brand’s Essentials segment in Spain.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President of Development IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe, said: “As one of IHG’s priority markets, it is fantastic to be expanding our footprint so substantially in Spain, where we have signed almost 700 rooms in the first nine months of this year. This significant expansion demonstrates the continued confidence our owners have in our brands to deliver strong returns on their investments, and our commitment to supporting them to capture demand and drive performance through our strong business.
“We have ambitious plans to accelerate the presence of both our strong mainstream segment and our distinctive Luxury & Lifestyle collection in Spain’s key urban and leisure destinations, as this is a key growth market for the company. It is a real privilege to be able to deliver on these ambitions alongside so many of our long-standing and new growth partners. Their trust in IHG and our talented teams will allow us to bring exciting new hotels to market across our diverse brand portfolio.”
As of June 30, 2024, IHG operated 55 hotels across eight brands in Spain, including Six Senses and InterContinental. The company also has 22 open Iberostar properties, with 12 more in development, enhancing its resort and all-inclusive offerings.
This year alone, IHG has announced the development of five new hotels, further diversifying its Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium and Essentials collections.
