Hundreds of people left Lebanon for Turkey by ferry, Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported on Thursday.

As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to escalate, more than 700 people have reached safety in Turkey, including Lebanese, Turkish and German nationals.

The ferries to the Turkish port of Mersin are not an official evacuation measure. However, Turkey has already completed preparations, TRT said, and evacuations could be imminent.

According to the broadcaster, 14,000 Turkish citizens live in Lebanon.
