Guardian headline about LGBTQ pride parade in Gaza is fake

Posts sharing the alleged screenshot spread across platformsincluded X And Facebookwhile the war between Israel and Hamas stretched into June, which many countries celebrate as LGBTQ pride month.

But no such article appears on the The Guardian websitewith Jones’ photo inverted compared to the posts shared online (archived here).

“The story is fake,” The Guardian news agency told AFP on June 6.

“The screenshot shared is not and never has been an article or headline published by The Guardian.”

Jones too addressed the fictional headline on X (archived here).

“Half the bile I get on this website comes from right-wing clowns parroting Guardian headlines,” he wrote on June 4.

The columnist some pieces published by the Guardian in June concern Britain’s upcoming general election.

AFP contacted Jones for additional comment but there was no response.
