German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Friday she supports the delivery of further air defense supplies to Kiev in its war against Russia, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to arrive in Berlin.

During a meeting with her Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár in the German capital, Baerbock said Russian President Vladimir Putin is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, aiming to make citizens wait through another freezing winter without power.

The foreign minister said two-thirds of Ukraine’s energy facilities have been destroyed during the conflict, which has now lasted more than two and a half years.

So it is crucial to supply Ukraine with air defense supplies, Baerbock said.

Ukraine is “ready for a just peace,” she argued, but its allies cannot leave Kiev “at the mercy of Russia’s war of aggression.”
