German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Friday pledged German support to France after arson attacks were committed on the French high-speed rail network last night.
“Of course, the competent authorities are also in close contact with each other in such a situation,” Baerbock said in Hamburg.
“This shows once again how important European cooperation is, especially when it comes to security issues,” she added.
Baerbock said Germany, which recently hosted the European Football Championship, was “enormously grateful to its French partners and friends”, adding that both sides had “worked very closely together” during the tournament in Germany, particularly the police forces in both countries.
“From Germany we offer the same support for the Olympic Games,” she said.
