Today the first peaks of Gasherbrum II were reached in an unstable weather season.
According to Seven Summit Treks, it was the Sherpa rope fixers who took the lead. Four clients followed them: Alina Pekova from Russia, Dorota Lidia Rasinska-Samocko from Poland, Josette Valloton from Switzerland and Marco Camandona from Italy.
The Nepalese and Pakistani workers who assisted the clients and fixed the ropes were Pasang Tenje Sherpa, Dawa Nurbu Sherpa, Chhangba Sherpa, Phurbu Kusang Sherpa and Pasang Dukpa Sherpa from Nepal, plus Shahida Jamil Afridi and Rana Hassan Javaid from Pakistan.
Top Karakoram reported that Uta Ibrahimi from Albania-Kosovo and Sanu Sherpa from Nepal also met around 7am.
Updates are expected from climbers without oxygen who are continuing on their own, without guides. These include Horia Colibasanu and Silviu Balan from Romania and Lukasz Supergan from Poland.
Horia Colibasanu reached Camp 3 (between 7,000m and 7,200m) today.
Uta Ibrahimi’s tracker shows that she was on her way to the summit from 7,200 meters, suggesting that instead of a Camp 3 and a Camp 4 on the normal routeThis year climbers have chosen a higher Camp 3.
