The idea of not having to pay rent while holding down a job may sound like a great perk. One flight attendant did just that and is now living a “dream life” thanks to the airline industry.
What happened: Traveling the world is a dream come true.
Thirty-three years old Alexandra Cosoff has done just that by leaving Queensland, Australia, to work as a flight attendant for EmiratesCosoff lives in Dubai, but has not paid rent for ten years.
Don’t miss:
Cosoff enjoys a “generous benefits package” as a cabin supervisor at Emirates, as reported by news.com.au in 2023.
“Our accommodation is taken care of and the salary is tax free — and not only that, we have a lot of other things taken care of like transport, laundry, we have full medical and dental cover,” Cosoff told news.com.au. “We’re very well looked after.”
Cosoff said a large portion of her salary went to rent and bills when she worked in Australia. Now that she works for Emirates, an airline based in the United Arab Emirates, Cosoff is able to save more of her income and travel the world.

“What I found very attractive was that I didn’t have to pay taxes on my salary,” she says.
Cosoff says she lives in an apartment provided by the airline.
“You can choose company housing or a housing allowance,” she said.
Cosoff, who used to be a makeup artist, says she is now living the “dream life.”
“I’ve been so lucky. I’ve had the most amazing time,” she said.
Cosoff told the newspaper that training to become a flight attendant at Emirates can be intensive and takes eight weeks.
“It’s very intense training, but you’ll carry that with you for the rest of your life. You learn your cultural awareness and how to stay calm and collected. And once you have all those skills, no one can take that away from you,” she said.

Why it’s important:
The report states that Emirates’ new flight attendants receive a base salary of around $1,236 per month, along with an hourly rate of around $17.86. They typically work between 80 and 100 hours of flying per month and also receive meal allowances.
On average, economy class flight attendants earn about $3,435 per month, while cabin flight attendants typically earn more.
Cosoff, who has a degree in marketing and public relations, said a career in aviation had always appealed to them.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a flight attendant. I remember seeing the Emirates cabin crew on TV with their red hats and bold red lipstick and thinking, ‘Wow, they’re so beautiful,'” she said.
Cosoff told the outlet that she encourages those interested in a flight attendant job to apply for what she called “a dream come true.”
