European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit flood-hit areas in Poland on Thursday at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the commission said on Wednesday.
Von der Leyen will “visit the risk area in Wrocław to assess the situation caused by the recent heavy flooding and rainfall in Poland,” a spokeswoman said at a news conference.
Poland is one of the EU member states in Central and Eastern Europe struggling with the consequences of the historic flooding since last weekend.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Slovak Prime Minister Robert and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer are expected to attend the meeting.
