Below deck sailing yacht‘S Daisy Kelliher says it is a “miracle” her sister is still alive after being involved in a serious accident while traveling in Thailand.
Daisy, 37, shared the news in two posts via Instagram, outlining how her sister ended up in a moped accident Bonnie in the hospital, where she needs operations on her chest, face and brain.
The chief stew, who has been on board Sailing yacht since season 2, says the accident happened last Thursday, June 13, and that her parents were on a plane to Thailand on Saturday. Daisy came to them on Wednesday.
“I…sat by her side on her 34th birthday, given the extent of her injuries it is a miracle that she is still alive and we are all optimistic and positive that she will make a full recovery in time,” Daisy wrote in her second messagewith a safety message for future travelers.
Celebrity health fears through the years
She continued: “The only reason I’m sharing this information (with my family’s permission) is to promote a few things. For anyone who might see this, who is going on vacation, traveling or something like that. Please do not get on the moped and if you do wear a helmet and have insurance (no helmet, no insurance). My family has seen several people admitted in recent weeks and not everyone has been as lucky as Bonnie. Always pay attention to your friends. Without Bonnie’s friend who she met here, things could have been different. It was she who realized Bonnie wasn’t coming home, found her in the hospital (because she didn’t have a phone) and was able to reach us. Without her, things could have been different.”
The attached photos show Daisy and Bonnie drinking by a pool, posing for selfies and spending time with friends. The two posts have generated more than 2,000 comments, many of them from friends and fans wishing Bonnie well.
Glenn Shephardwho served as captain Sailing yacht since season 1, was one of the first to comment. He said he had lost a “good friend” in a “very similar situation” and reiterated Daisy’s support for helmets.
“Scooters and motorcycles scare me to death, it’s usually someone else’s fault, but without some protection it often doesn’t end well,” he wrote. “Stay away from them and if you have to drive, be sure to wear a helmet and insurance.”

Daisy also praised the hospital staff now that Bonnie has been moved from intensive care to a ‘normal room’. She expects her sister to remain in the hospital for at least another two weeks.
“Bonnie is in a fantastic hospital and the staff was wonderful,” she wrote. “There is a long road to recovery, but we have had so much support.”
She concluded: “We hope that sharing this story can save a life or save another person or family going through this. We can’t quite believe how close we came to losing her.”
